Dr Stuart Holmes is a senior lecturer in the School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science and Associate Director of the Centre for Nanoporous Materials. His research interests include nanostructures for Fuel Cell applications along with Zeolite Catalysis and the treatment of waste streams using novel ion-exchange materials. He is also the undergraduate and postgraduate (taught) admissions tutor for the school. He has twin daughters who are four-and-a-half years old.

"Having twins was quite a challenge early on and balancing this with continuing my career could have been very difficult. Fortunately, the School management were extremely understanding and made it as easy as they possibly could for me to help out at home and meet my obligations at work. As the children have got older, the time pressures have changed to school runs and illness and holiday cover but again, I have been very lucky to have the continuing support of the School."
