James Winterburn was awarded Third Prize for his poster presentation at the Chemistry Innovation Knowledge Transfer Network 2009 Associates Meeting.

The event was held on 25-26th March, at the University of York. It was a meeting for all the PhD students who are supported through the Chemistry Innovation KTN. The invited students have to either present a poster or give a talk, and three prizes were awarded for the best posters. James won his prize for his poster, "Production of biosurfactant by fermentation with integral foam fractionation". Between 50 and 60 people attended the meeting on that day, and Dr Peter Martin also attended from CEAS.

James Winterburn is a member of the Colloids, Crystals and Interfaces group and is working on a Unilever sponsored project to apply foam fractionation to biosurfactant production.
