The regeneration of East Manchester, spurred on by the building of the Commonwealth Games stadium, now the Etihad Stadium, continues apace. Connell Sixth Form, an exciting part of this, is taking shape on land donated by Manchester City Football Club – recently appointing staff and about to enrol its first students. Connell seeks to provide young people with a world class, academic sixth form within their own community, enabling them to realise their full potential in a variety of ways as part of a caring community which will prepare them for life beyond Year 13.

James Winterburn led the visit from Gillian Winter, Connell’s Principle, and staff and students from the new sixth form college in East Manchester, which admits its first group of A-level and level 3 BTEC students this September.

The visit marked the start of a long term relationship between CEAS, Connell College and the not-for-profit Bright Futures educational trust.
