Process Integration

process Integration

Process integration addresses the optimisation of the design and operation of integrated manufacturing systems. Process design starts with the selection of a series of processing steps and of their interconnection into a complete manufacturing system to transform raw materials into desired products.

Whereas great emphasis in process design has traditionally been placed on the simulation of processes, the creation or synthesis of the design has by comparison received little attention.  Yet the decisions made during the creation of the design at the conceptual design stage are of paramount importance in determining the environmental impact, economic viability, safety and quality of the final design.
